World Youths Day 2025: ...we will keep pushing the frontiers.

 World Youths Day 2025:

...we will keep pushing the frontiers.

By: Amb. Kessington Odion Oriaifo

The 2025 World Youths Day, is around the corner. It is scheduled to hold as usual, on the 14th of August with the theme: 'Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation Through Technology and Partnerships", is a step further on the 2024 Theme: "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development."

This year's International Youth Day's theme, is a pointer to the fact that, Youths are expected to push the 'frontiers' further, and launch into International diplomacy through the various set skills and experiences acquired over the years.

International Youth Days are days of special occasions, dedicated to celebrating the vital role of young people in our societies and recognising their contributions to development. It is a day to acknowledge the potentials and achievements of young people, while also addressing the challenges they face. The day is expectedly marked by awareness campaigns, community concerts, and various events that bring attention to the socio-economic and socio-political issues affecting youths around the world.

I had the opportunity to represent Nigeria in last year's event, where an array of youths from diverse ethnicity, race, colour and religion gathered to share experiences.

In view of the above, I hope to bring my experience to bear in Nigeria, with the hope of starting from my state, Edo state and my local government area, Esan Central. This is so because, every of my activities, for now, is self sponsored, with the plan to extend same to the entire local government areas in Edo state, and subject to assistance from well meaning individuals, organisations and the government, will extend the benefits to youths in the entire federation.

This is a daunting task, but definitely by no means impossible.

International Youth Day is highly significant, as it offers a chance to recognise and celebrate the valuable qualities of young people and their potentials to shape the future of nations. It also serves as a reminder of the challenges youth face globally, such as educational barriers, limited access to healthcare, and economic instability.

The day encourages collaborative efforts to address these issues and highlights the importance of empowering young people and providing them with the necessary resources for their development.

In view of the above, as I wish our Youths nationwide, a happy new month of August, I also want to announce to us all that it not yet over, until it is over, as we will keep pushing the frontiers.
